Carpet Protector

Q: What is Plasticover Carpet Protection?
A: Plasticover Carpet Protection is a tough, 2 mil plastic film with an adhesive coating. It adheres to your carpet to protect it from damage and keep it looking "factory fresh."

Q: Is the adhesive on the outside or the inside of the roll (like tape)?
A: Plasticover Carpet Protection is "reverse wound" meaning that the adhesive is on the outside of the roll. As a result, you simply stick the product down on the carpet and just roll it out to apply.

Q: How long can I leave it down?
A: It may be left on up to a maximum of 60 days, which is longer than any other adhesive carpet protection product on the market.

Q: How do I remove it?
A: Just use your fingernail to peel back an edge of the plastic and pull.

Q: What grade and thickness of plastic is it?
A: Plasticover Carpet Protection uses a high quality, 2 mil linear low density plastic that is highly resistant to punctures and tears. This allows the product to adhere firmly to the service and conform to irregular surfaces with less adhesive, allowing a full 60 days of use.

Q: It sounds great! How do I buy it?
A: Plasticover always prefers to sell its products through wholesalers, distributors and retail outlets. If you would like to become a reseller, please click here to inquire. If your local suppliers do not yet carry it, you can buy carpet protection on our web site. Once we get your order, if it turns out we have a reseller in your area, we will contact you to arrange an order through them.

Q: Can I put it on every kind of carpet?
A: Plasticover Carpet Protection is recommended only for synthetic carpeting. Due to many variable factors in natural fiber based carpet such as Berber, adhesive may remain on the carpet after removal.  However, many customers have used our product successfully on Berber carpeting by testing and monitoring the product during usage, but we cannot warrant its usage on this surface.

Q: Will Plasticover Carpet Protection leave adhesive on the carpet?
A: Used as directed, it will protect your carpets from surface damage and can be removed residue-free.

Q: Can I put it on hard flooring or other surfaces?
A: No, Plasticover Carpet Protection is ONLY intended for use only on domestic synthetic carpeting. Using it on other surfaces will result in adhesive residue transfer to the surface.

Q: Oops, I accidentally put it on another surface. What do I use to clean it?
A: If Plasticover Carpet Protection should happen to be applied to a surface other than synthetic carpeting, remove the adhesive in accordance with the surface manufacturer's instructions. Citrus based cleaners are generally effective in removing the adhesive, but first make sure that any cleaner used is approved by the surface manufacturer.

Q: Can it be reused?
A: No, it cannot be reused.

RV Carpet Protection

Q.  How does RV Carpet protection differ from standard Plasticover Carpet Protector?  return to top ^
A.  The main difference is size:  RV Carpet Protection comes in 21" wide rolls to fit the walkway of RV coaches, campers, trailers, van conversions, tent trailers and any other carpeted recreational vehicle.

Q.  How does using this product in an RV differ from use in a home?
A.  RV Carpet Protection is the same great quality film used for professional building and emodeling, so it is proven to be contractor tough.  However, exposure to heat and sunlight can often be greater in an RV, so we recommend that you check the product per the usage instructions in the box and always remove it when you return form your trip.  The heat and sunlight exposure from a stored RV can cause the adhesive to transfer if left on for long periods when exposed to direct sunlight or extreme heat.

Carpet Film Applicator

Q.  How do you assemble the Carpet Film Applicator?  return to top ^
A.  There really is no "assembly" required:  just adjust the width of the assembly, insert the correct size carpet protector film roll and applicating roller, and snap on the handle.  We originally prepared instructions, but stopped since the adjustment and usage was so obvious!

Q.  How do I know if a Carpet Film Applicator will make my job more productive?
A.  Our rule of thumb is if you are applying carpet film to 2 or more sets of stairs or rolling  out more than 20 feet at a time, it will save you time for sure.  If you are rolling out just small pieces in tight spaces (example:  in an RV), we don't recommend one.

Sticky Mats

Q.  How do sticky mats work?  return to top ^
A.  Sticky Mats take the dirt off of shoes by grabbing it with adhesive as you step on it.  Clean shoes and boots equal clean floors.

Q.  How often do I need to change the sheet?
A.  Sticky Mats become less effective as they trap more dirt onto their surface.  Just monitor the appearance of the mat for trapped dirt and change frequently if you want o maximize the amount of dirt kept outside.
